“I so much enjoy being able to completely allow myself to be consumed by a role, and really grow in the process, once you've done that, it's hard to go back working on things you don't care about.” Jennifer Connelly is known for her complex portrayal of Alicia Nash in A Beautiful Mind (2001), where she plays the wife of mathematician John Nash (Russell Crowe), who struggles with paranoid schizophrenia. Born and raised in Brooklyn Heights, New York, Connelly began modeling at age 10. She made her film debut in Once Upon a Time in America (1984) and gained recognition in Labyrinth (1986). After studying English at Yale and drama at Stanford, she gained attention in The Rocketeer (1991) and went on to star in several films, including Mulholland Falls (1996) and Requiem for a Dream (2000), where she earned critical acclaim. Connelly won a BAFTA, Golden Globe, and an Oscar for her role in A Beautiful Mind and continued her successful career with films such as House of Sand and Fog (2003) and Blood Diamond (2006). She also starred in Reservation Road (2007), The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008), and Noah (2014). In 2016, Connelly appeared in American Pastoral and went on to portray various roles in Only the Brave (2017) and Alita: Battle Angel (2019). She joined the cast of Snowpiercer (2020–) for her first TV series in nearly two decades, and returned to the big screen in Top Gun: Maverick (2022).
