"Nothing makes a woman more beautiful than the belief that she is beautiful." She was born and raised in Rome during World War II in a matriarchal household, due to her father's abandonment. At the age of fourteen, she became a finalist in a beauty contest, gaining recognition on the scene and attention from film producer Carlo Ponti, who would later become her husband and father of her children. Although she started as an extra, she quickly reached leading roles thanks to her charisma and beauty, establishing herself as an icon and diva of Italian cinema and its representation in Hollywood. She shared scenes and sets with the greats of the time and, in 1961, she won the Oscar for Best Actress for her performance in "Two Women", directed by Vittorio de Sica. Her figure and influence transcended her career in front of the camera. She was the first actress to have her own perfume line, she has a personal eyewear brand and, even in old age, she remains a symbol of beauty and sensuality.
