Bette Davis

“In this business, until you're known as a monster you're not a star.” Bette Davis was an American actress, one of the most iconic of Hollywood's golden age. She became interested in acting at a very young age, attended the John Murray Anderson School of Drama in New York, and then began her career on Broadway. Some time later, she signed a contract with Warner Bros. and began her film career, in which she played strong, independent women with complicated personalities. Although she is known for playing villains, she also explored other genres and did not hesitate to take on any role, always giving her all. She was an empowered woman in a male-dominated industry and her career spanned more than fifty years. She taught Hollywood to follow the actress instead of the actress following the camera. Many of her films became historic landmarks, and her performance was pivotal. She was nominated for the Academy Award ten times, winning twice with Dangerous (1935) and Jezebel (1938). Other of her best-known films are: All About Eve (1950), What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962), Dark Victory (1939), Now, Voyager (1942), among others. Her charisma and extraordinary ability to convey emotions consolidated her as one of the most respected and admired actresses in history.
