“I don't have a big career plan. I just like to see how things come out, and I just try to keep going in different directions.” Kate Beckinsale is a British actress known for her versatility in playing roles for both television and film. Her professional career began in the 1990s with roles in British television dramas and period films, earning public acclaim and rave reviews for the William Shakespeare adaptation "Much Ado About Nothing" (1993) and "The Golden Goblet" (2000). It was her role as the vampire Selena in the "Underworld" film saga that catapulted her to international fame in the 2000s, during which time she participated in other blockbuster titles such as "Pearl Harbor" (2001), "Serendipity" (2001), "Laurel Canyon" (2002), "Van Helsing" (2004), "The Aviator" (2004), "Underworld: Evolution" (2006), "Click" (2006), "Vacancy" (2007), "Snow Angels" (2008), "Nothing But the Truth" (2008) and "Whiteout" (2009). Acting was present throughout her life; daughter of Richard Beckinsale, a renowned British actor starring in several sitcoms, and Judy Loe, an actress also of British origin who continued the legacy to her daughter and gave her guidance during her childhood and adolescence. More recently, she starred in "The Face of an Angel" (2015), "Love and Friendship" (2016), and "The Only Living Boy in New York" (2017). In January 2017, Kate reprised her role as Selena in "Underworld: Blood Wars".
