Danny Boyle

“I want people to leave the cinema feeling that something's been confirmed for them about life”. Danny Boyle is a British director, producer and screenwriter, known for his work in film and television. He gained international fame with Trainspotting (1996), starring Ewan McGregor as several of his films, which became a landmark of British cinema. He studied English and Drama at the University of Wales, Bangor. He began his theatrical career with the Joint Stock Theatre Company before moving to the Royal Court Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company. He developed an irresistible interest in film after seeing Francis Ford Coppola's Apocalypse Now and it led him to explore his own ability as a film director. He directed renowned films such as The Beach (2000) with Leonardo DiCaprio, 28 Days later (2002), 127 Hours (2010), among others. In 2008 he made Slumdog Millionaire, a film for which he won 8 Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director. He has also directed films such as Steve Jobs (2015) and Yesterday (2019). Boyle knows how to get a great performance from actors, as few directors can, and that combines it with an energetic visual style that makes him stand out as a great director of these times.
