She began her career as a model and landed her first film role opposite Eddy Murphy in the romantic comedy Boomerang (1992), which led to her participation in the films The Flintstones (1994), Bulworth (1998), and the television movie Presenting Dorothy Dandridge (1999), for which she won the Primetime Emmy Award and the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Miniseries or Movie. She went on to become one of the highest-paid actresses in Hollywood in the 2000s, with major roles such as that of a widow in the romantic drama Monster's Ball (2001), for which she won the Academy Award for Best Actress. At the height of her career, Berry took such high-profile roles as Storm in four installments of the X-Men film series (2000-2014), the henchwoman of a mugger in the thriller Swordfish (2001), Bond girl Jinx in Die Another Day (2002) and the title role in Catwoman (2004).
