Pip Karmel's career spans the disciplines of film editing, writing and directing. In the last couple of years she has diversified from film into television writing. She has written for the Blackfella Films/ABC drama 'Total Control' and won the Best Television Series or Mini Series AWGIE Award for her writing on episode 3 of series. She is currently writing an episode for series 2. She has also written an episode of the Goalpost Pictures /SBS Drama 'New Gold Mountain'. Meanwhile she is set to adapt Genevieve Gannon's best-selling novel 'The Mothers' for Goalpost Pictures and is developing for television 'Bad Behaviour', adapted from the memoir by Rebecca Starford and produced by Amanda Higgs for Matchbox Pictures. Pip Karmel was nominated for both an Academy Award and BAFTA for her work as film editor on 'Shine', directed by Scott Hicks and starring Geoffrey Rush, for which she won an AFI Award. She went on to write and direct 'Me Myself I', starring Rachel Griffiths. The film screened at Toronto and Telluride Film Festivals and was nominated for multiple AFI and Film Critics Circle Awards, including Best Original Screenplay and Best Direction.
