Her first ambition was to become a singer, but at the age of 12 she attended a modeling convention and ended up signing a contract with an agency. At 14, she was cast to play the older sister in the family drama 7th Heaven, one of the longest-running and best-received drama series in television history. Although she had other interpretations on television and even in film, recognition came with her role as the duchess Sophie von Teschen in The Illusionist. For this role, she was awarded the Rising Star Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival and received an Achievement Award at the Newport Beach Film Festival. Her career continued with relevant films at the box office and also with participations in smaller projects, such as The Sinner, a series she starred in and produced. She is also recognized for her social work through the Make the Difference Network Foundation, which she co-founded with her father, Jon Biel.
