Karim Aïnouz

He studied architecture in Brazil and after graduating continued his education in Fine Arts in New York, focusing on painting and photography. Soon after, he enrolled in Film Theory at NYU, from which he began his career as a filmmaker. He worked as an assistant director, casting and editor before developing his own projects. His first short films were screened in more than fifty international festivals, which allowed him to take the step to feature films with prestige. Later, his films have been selected at festivals such as Cannes, Venice, Havana, Berlin and Mar del Plata.
