Born and raised in Toronto, received a B.A. in English Language and Literature from the University of Toronto, then spent 25 years acting in Britain and Canada, including roles in the Stratford Shakespearean Festival in Stratford, Ontario. She became an Anglican priest and served in that capacity in Quebec. In her retirement she has produced several volumes of poetry. In 2013 she won the Montreal International Poetry Prize. Her most recent known residence is in the Portneuf region of Quebec, along the St. Lawrence River.
