Carl Andersen was an Austrian filmmaker mostly director/writer/producer/actor of underground and low-budget films. He started out as a film critic and organized the Festival of Subversive Films in Vienna. His first feature film was "Vampyros Sexos" aka "I was a teenage zabbadoing" (1988). In 1991 he moved his filmmaking to Berlin where he became a member of the video library Negativeland. He produced movies in a steady pace with some of them making a lot of controversy. On his 50th birthday in 2008, the Berlin program cinemas Brotfabrik and Tilsiter Lichtspiele honored him by dedicating an overall Carl Andersen retrospective. He ended his life in August 2012.
