Kevin Asbell is the Chief Operating Officer for the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association ("Association"). He is responsible for the overall business operations of the Association, including, but not limited to, staff oversight, parade development, event operations, strategic partnerships, community relations, and maintenance of technology platforms. Additionally, Kevin oversees all legal matters, negotiates and drafts agreements, and coordinates with outside counsel as needed. Moreover, he is responsible for talent acquisition, the development and execution of special performances, and he oversees all aspects of film production related to the Rose Parade®. Finally, Kevin manages relationships with various broadcast and streaming partners. Kevin began his professional career in entertainment while working as an intern in the Business and Legal Affairs Department at Virgin Records and as a law clerk for the late Johnnie L. Cochran, Jr. in his Los Angeles law firm. After being mentored by Michael E. Uslan, executive producer of the popular Batman franchise, Kevin decided to attend graduate film school in order to broaden his experience in the creative and business aspects of filmmaking. During graduate film school, Kevin partnered with three colleagues and eventually became the Chief Operating Officer of a production company called Treasure Entertainment, Inc. He began practicing corporate and entertainment law after successfully managing the operations of Treasure Entertainment for ten years. After managing his own law practice, Kevin accepted the opportunity to work in-house as Corporate Counsel for Lucas Oil Products, Inc. ("Lucas Oil"). He worked his way to become General Counsel for Lucas Oil and all of its subsidiaries, including, but not limited to, a feature film division called Forrest Films, an in-house television production division called Lucas Oil Production Studios, and a television network called Mav'rick Entertainment Network, Inc. ("MAVTV"). In this role, Kevin successfully oversaw the production of thirteen feature films and various television projects. Kevin received a promotion to become Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel of MAVTV during his last two years working for MAVTV's parent company and served in this role until MAVTV's California office was closed. Kevin earned his two Bachelor of Arts degrees from Indiana University, his Master of Fine Arts degree from the Producers Program at the UCLA School of Theater, Film & Television, and received his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law. Kevin is a member in good standing of the State Bar of California.
