Luis Rodríguez Arroyo was born in Madrid in 1915. His parents had a furniture factory and had five children, of whom Luis was the fourth and future actress Ana Mariscal the youngest. He decided on acting against most of his family and helped Ana start in movies too, being so that his first film would also be hers, "El último húsar" (Amore di ussaro (1940)), a Spanish-Italian musical co-production. He usually played secondary roles, mostly in comedies and patriotic films such as ¡A mí no me mire usted! (1941), Escuadrilla (1941), Raza (1942), "Danza del fuego" (La sévillane (1943)) and others. During the 50s he would appear in only four more, as El diablo toca la flauta (1953). At the end of the 40s decade he also tried directing a couple of films, Dulcinea (1947) and Aquellas palabras (1949). There would be a third and last trying with Las horas que pasan (1956) before he died at only 40 years of age. He has the credit to help her sister Ana start in film business. She would become a first class dramatic actress and strong-willed leading lady of Spanish post-war cinema.
