Darby Bailey is an American actress, voice-over artist, musician, songwriter, writer/producer, filmmaker, and businesswoman. She is most known as the 'Voice of Tellme'. Her voice has been heard billions of times by telephone callers in the U.S. since she first started voicing phone systems in 1999. The Silicon Valley company, Tellme Networks, Inc. modeled Darbot, their speech recognition system, on her voice in 1999. Sold to Microsoft in 2007, her voice then became part of many other automated voice response systems, including Ford Sync, inside Ford vehicles, among others. As of 2021, Ms. Bailey continues to voice what has grown from hundreds of thousands, to possibly a million concatenated audio phrases for many Fortune 500 Companies, including AT&T, American Express, Delta Airlines, Fidelity Investments, Hartford Life, UPS and others. As a musician/songwriter and music publisher, her music has appeared in film and television on NBC, E!, and Oxygen, through Universal Music. As an interdisciplinary artist, she has held art shows in Venice, CA and Salt Lake City, UT for both her illustrations and experimental music theatrics. As an actor, she trained for ten years with Sam Christensen Studios in Burbank, CA, with Second City Los Angeles, and others in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Darby holds a BA in Creative writing from Antioch University Los Angeles, a Masters in Business Administration in Information Technology, from Western Governor's University, and a Graduate Certificate in Information Systems from the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah. She is a Ph.D. student in Communication at Regent University, researching Social Impact Entertainment with the use of robots, voice assistants, AI and blockchain technologies incorporated. She serves on the board of Utah Women in Film & Television.
