Kovelamudi Bapayya or K. Bapaiah is famous Indian film director. He has directed about 80 films in Telugu and Hindi languages. He lost his parents in early childhood and looked after by his paternal uncle K. S. Prakash Rao. He has studied in Vijayawada and Chennai. He has joined under director K. B. Tilak as an apprentice for the films Muddu Bidda, M.L.A. (1957) and Attaa Okinti Kodale. He started working under Suresh Productions with Tapi Chanakya for their debut film Ramudu Bheemudu (1964). D. Ramanaidu offered him to direct the film Drohi in 1970. Soggadu (1975) blockbuster film in Telugu was later remade in Hindi by Suresh Productions as Dildaar and was a big hit in Northern India. He has directed about 80 films in Telugu and Hindi languages. Some of the hit films include Eduru Leni Manishi, Soggadu, Mande Gundelu, Mundadugu, Gurusishyulu, and Chattamtho Poratam in Telugu, and Dildaar, Dil Aur Deewar, and Maqsad in Hindi. In Bollywood, he worked mostly with Jeetendra and Mithun Chakraborty. He has two daughters, both are married.
