Music in Film: The Beginning After leaving the Plasmatics, Beauvoir recorded his solo debut album 'Drums Along the Mohawk' for Virgin Records. Sylvester Stallone, while editing in a Hollywood studio, caught a glimpse of the video for "Feel The Heat" which was also being edited and chose it as the leading track for his film 'Cobra'. When "Feel The Heat" caught the attention of Al Teller (Columbia) he offered Beauvoir a U.S. deal , with him and Richard Branson (Virgin) ma king the album a priority release. "Feel the Heat" was eventually selected as the title track for the movie and trailer, at the time, receiving the largest worldwide advertising and promotional budget for a Hollywood film to date. The initial reception for Cobra was harsh by critics enticing the public to believe the film a failure. Fans responded slaying critics when Cobra debuted Memorial Day Weekend #1 at the box office taking in over $15.6-million, more than double its contender Top Gun and broke the previous year's record set by Rambo Part 2. "Feel the Heat" entered Billboard's Hot 100 in the US, hit the "Top 10" charts across Europe and Australia and was featured in heavy rotation on MTV and VH1 for months upon release. Today, the "Feel the Heat" video for the movie Cobra is a VH1 Classic. Cobra went on to become a huge financial success taking in over $160-million, over six times its original $25-million budget. Cobra and its soundtrack are still selling today with both receiving high reviews through Amazon and other outlets; as are many of the other movies featuring music by Jean Beauvoir. As with Cobra, many other films featuring music by Jean Beauvoir are continuing with the same success stories including Christmas with the Kranks (Tim Allen, Dan Aykroyd), Rock 'n Roll High School Forever (Corey Feldman), School of Rock (Jack Black) Shocker (Wes Craven), RV (Robin Williams), and many others. Full Bio: Born of Haitian parents in Chicago, Illinois, Jean was destined to be a performer. He was the leader of the junior high school rock band at 13, which lead to playing dances and clubs throughout the New York area. At 15, he was recruited to be musical director for Gary US Bonds and went on to do shows throughout the US with Dick Clark, Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry and many others. Soon after this, he became the youngest lead singer of the group The Flamingos of "I Only Have Eyes for You" fame. At age 16, having difficulty at home with his choice of profession, he moved out and headed to the Big Apple, where shortly after arriving he became immersed in the New York punk scene. Soon afterward he answered a newspaper ad and was eventually recruited for 'The Plasmatics', where he changed his image to suit the part and the awakening of the blond Mohawk was born. Introduced as "the greatest punk rock band in the entire world" by Tom Snyder on his late night television show, 'The Plasmatics' were the most outrageous, controversial and successful Punk rock bands of all time. The Plasmatics began dominating US and worldwide press within six months of his entry to the gang. Wendy O 'Williams and the band's exorbitant stage antics shocked millions and made them a household name as a highlight of the 6 o'clock news and Saturday morning cartoons. Beauvoir left 'The Plasmatics' after three years of constant touring and recording. Shortly after departing 'The Plasmatics' Gary U.S. Bonds' manager introduced him to Little Steven Van Zandt, who recognizing his talent convinced Beauvoir to participate in 'Little Steven & Disciples of Soul' albums Men without Women and Voice of America. It was the beginning of a long friendship and working relationship where he toured with Van Zandt and was also a producer on his two albums. 'Men Without Women' and 'Voice of America' by Steven Van Zandt were his first and second solo albums respectfully, with both being critically acclaimed albums. The success of the albums resulted in two years of worldwide touring giving Beauvoir the credibility he needed to launch his own solo career. Several years after the success of his own multi-platinum solo career, Van Zandt hired him once again to serve as CEO/Managing Director of Renegade Nation, Steven Van Zandt's media and entertainment company, whose operations include terrestrial and Sirius Satellite radio programming, live event and television production, record label operations, music licensing, merchandising and an online social networking venture, "Fuzztopia". After leaving Little Steven & the Disciples of Soul to begin his own solo career, Beauvoir signed with well known manger Gary Kurfirst who inked a deal with Richard Branson (Virgin Records) which resulted in Beauvoirs' first co-venture label deal with Virgin with his solo debut album 'Drums Along the Mohawk' slated as its first release. After recording "Drums Along the Mohawk' was complete, editing for the title track "Feel the Heat" began. Sylvester Stallone, while editing in a Hollywood studio, caught a glimpse of "Feel the Heat" being edited. Stallone personally selected the single as the title track for his film 'Cobra'. When "Feel the Heat" caught the attention of Al Teller (Columbia) he immediately offered Beauvoir a U.S. deal for the album which he and Branson both made a priority release. The song was eventually selected as the title track for the 'Cobra 'trailer, at the time, receiving the largest worldwide advertising and promotional budget for a Hollywood film to date. The initial reception for 'Cobra' was harsh by critics enticing the public to believe the film a failure. Fans responded slaying critics when 'Cobra' debuted Memorial Day weekend #1 at the box office taking in over $15.6-million, more than double it's contender Top Gun and broke the previous years record held by Rambo Pt 2. "Feel the Heat" sold over 1.5-million copies upon release, entered Billboard's Hot 100 in the US, hit "Top 10" charts across Europe and Australia, with its video featured in heavy rotation on MTV and VH1 for months when released to television outlets. 'Cobra' has since gone on to become an even larger financial success taking in over $160-million to date and counting, over six times its original $25-million budget. The movie and soundtrack are still selling today with both receiving high reviews through Amazon and other outlets. During the summer of 2017, Sylvester Stallone posted an image for 'Cobra' on his Facebook site with the caption "Crime Is A Disease, Flashback or Comeback?" where it is still featured. After his solo debut, Beauvoir launched the first of his two successful rock bands, Voodoo X (Columbia Records) and Crown Of Thorns (Interscope Records) respectfully. The video for "Voodoo Queen" by his band Voodoo X has the only video in music history filmed during an actual live voodoo ritual. His debut Crown Of Thorns album resulted in a highly publicized bidding war within the industry with even Prince placing a $1-million against Jimmy Iovine (Interscope) and other major labels for rights to the album. When the self titled 'Crown Of Thorns' debut album hit shops it was to critical acclaim. The album hit Metal Charts one week after release where it stayed for six months. Kerrang! dubbed it "one of the finest American hard rock albums in recent years".
