Mark was born in Ohio but raised in Los Angeles. Enlisting in the United States Marine Corps immediately after high school is what gave him his serendipitous break into Hollywood with Invaders from Mars (1986). After being tapped by Dale Dye and cast by Oliver Stone for Platoon (1986) in late 1985 he went on to train, advise and perform in primarily military film productions in both major motion pictures and private corporate productions. Having attended his first Academy Awards in 1987, the bar was set extremely high. He juggled both film production and his military duties simultaneously throughout his career until his Marine Corps retirement in 2000. He left Hollywood to pursue personal interests in vocal ensembles leading him to perform at Carnegie Hall in Feb 2004. Dabbling in aviation kept him occupied for much of the last decade. He has for several years now been instrumental in his national advocacy work in various mediums and continues with that work and his film interests. He in 2016 and 2017 was instrumental in creating a documentary production with the entire cast of Platoon (1986) in celebrating a 30 plus year brotherhood.
