Kevin Eastwood is an award-winning director and producer who works in both drama and non-fiction. For his work as a director he has been nominated for five Canadian Screen Awards by the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television, eight Yorkton Golden Sheaf Awards (winning two) and six Leo Awards (winning two). For his work as a producer, he has won a Gemini Award from the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television, the Allan King Award from the Directors Guild of Canada, two Yorkton Golden Sheaf Awards, and the top prize at the Hot Docs Documentary Film Festival. Kevin's documentary credits as director include Humboldt: The New Season for CBC Television (CSA nominee for Best Documentary Program and Winner of the Ruth Shaw Award at the Yorkton Golden Sheaf Awards), The Death Debate (CSA nominee for Best Direction), and After the Sirens (CSA and Leo Award nominee for Best Documentary Program, Leo Award nominee for Best Direction). Eastwood is perhaps best known however for being the series director and co-executive producer of Emergency Room: Life + Death at VGH, a critically-acclaimed documentary series that scored record-breaking ratings for Knowledge Network, was nominated for Best Direction and Best Documentary Program by the Academy of Canadian Cinema and TV, and won Best Documentary Series and The People's Choice Award for Favourite TV series at the Leo Awards. Other recent non-fiction credits include producing the feature documentaries Haida Modern (Winner, VIFF People's Choice Award and Best Canadian Film at the Festival International du Film sur l'Art); Haida Gwaii: On the Edge of the World (Winner, Best Canadian Documentary at Hot Docs and Winner, the Alan King Award for Excellence in Documentary), Oil Sands Karaoke (Winner, Best Science/Nature Documentary at Yorkton Film Festival), Do You Really Want to Know? (directed by Oscar-winner John Zaritsky, and Winner: Best Science/Medicine Documentary at Yorkton) and Eco-Pirate: The Story of Paul Watson (Winner: Best Documentary, Projecting Change Film Festival, and Special Jury Prize winner, Reykjavík). Eastwood's dramatic production credits include being the co-producer and second unit director for the acclaimed CBC drama series The Romeo Section from creator Chris Haddock; being the supervising producer for the Gemini Award-winning CTV movie, Elijah; and producing the feature films Preggoland (Official Selection: Toronto, Santa Barbara, Beijing), Fido (Official Selection: Sundance, Toronto, Gérardmer) and The Delicate Art of Parking (Winner: Golden Zenith Award for Best Film at the Montréal World Film Festival). Kevin's other directing credits include the music video for Post-War Blues by Dan Mangan (an homage to Dr. Strangelove starring Don McKellar), the Gemini Award-nominated artist profile Douglas Coupland: Pop Artist, a documentary series for Animal Planet, and multiple documentary projects for the BCCLA, Canada's longest-running civil liberties association.
