James Carew

James Carew was born in Goshen, Indiana in 1876. He began as a clerk in a publishing firm. Made his stage debut at the age of 21 in 'Damon and Pythias' in Chicago, became a highly successful in the theatre and moved to England in 1905, where he continued his classical stage career starting with the Lyric Theatre in London, starred on stage with the legendary classical stage performer Ellen Terry in two productions, despite the great difference of their ages they got married, he was 29 years her junior, they divorced in 1910. As a well-known stage actor with a appropriate training the transition to the talkies wasn't a problem for him, he was still very successful on the screen until his last movie role in 'Glamour Girl' starring Gene Gerrard and Lesley Brook in 1938. died in London age 62 in 1938.
