Ron Greenwood's career in the motion picture business began as an actor playing Jayne Mansfield's baby in "The Girl Can't Help It". It was at 20th Century Fox and he was but 11 months old. Working on the film was Ron's father, Don B. Greenwood, a motion picture pioneer who started in 1925 with Raoul Walsh, FW Murnau, and Henry Lerman. Also on set was Ron's mother, who was director Frank Tashlin's secretary at the time. Ron's older half brother Sidney H. Greenwood, who went on to do "MASH", "McCabe & Mrs. Miller",and "Deliverance" was also working on the film. "Four Greenwoods on One Film Set", read a Hollywood Reporter article. In 1974 Ron's first big feature as prop man was the action thriller "The Towering Inferno" with Paul Newman, Steve McQueen, William Holden, Faye Dunaway, and Fred Astaire. In 1978 Ron was on camera again in the Vietnam war film "Go Tell The Spartans" starring Burt Lancaster. He was firing a machine gun from a fast moving door-less helicopter in the middle of the night. Ron's first motion picture as Property Master was "Star Trek IV", the success of which opened many doors. In 1993 and '94 Ron had the honor of teaching a film-making course at UCLA which led to membership in the AMPTP and NATPE. After Brandon Lee's death Ron was asked to conduct several firearms safety seminars for Hollywood safety personnel, held at Paramount and Fox Studios. Never to pass up a chance for adventure, Ron spotted an unusual Craigslist posting in 2008 that read "Prop Master wanted in the Philippines". 72 hours later he was on a plane to Manila, then Cebu, for 26 days of filming and later Saigon,Vietnam for 23 more days on distant location for the film "Tears From Afar", aka "The Girl With No Number".
