Jerry Harper was born in the Dalles, Oregon in 1930. His parents divorced early in his life and, in 1944, Jerry and his mother moved to Alaska. Eventually Jerry's mother married Zach Loussac, the mayor of Anchorage. As a young man, Jerry pursued his acting career in many venues - working in carnivals and circuses before finding work on stage and in films and television. In 1987, Jerry and his wife Sandy returned to Alaska, where they opened the popular and prestigious Cyrano's Bookstore and Off Center Playhouse, bringing top quality theater to Alaska. A legend in Alaska at the time of his death, Jerry died of cancer on April 8, 2005 at the age of 75.
