William Hawk Birdshead is best known for his work on suicide prevention among Indigenous people in the United States and New Zealand. In 2016 William returned home to the Standing Rock Reservation where he began working with other filmmakers on the film "Awake, A Dream from Standing Rock" as an editor for Part III: Standing Rock Through Indigenous Eyes along with Teena Pugliese and Aaron Turgeon. He was a presenter for the film's opening at Glastonbury Festival.
