While born in St. Louis, Missouri she was raised in Hollywood by her father silent movie actor Wilbur Higby and her mother who was in real estate. She worked on most of the network radio shows in Hollywood through the 1930s. Miss Higby then moved to New York where she appeared on nearly 50 (radio) soap operas and starred on 'When a Girl Marries' for 18 years. The show had the highest audience of any daytime serial; 7,000,000 listeners, for five years.
