David A. Hoffman is a native of Chicago. He moved to Los Angeles in 1999 after graduating from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film Studies. Hoffman's beginnings in the industry happened in the world of low-budget filmmaking, training him to be efficient on the set and forcing him to find creative solutions for big-budget effects and locations. After 2 years of jumping from company to company, working both on set and in the production office, Hoffman moved to post-production and began editing features for Rojak Films. During his time at Rojak Films, Hoffman edited half a dozen feature films of various genres before moving from editing to producing. In the fall of 2003, Hoffman joined with producing partner and director Matthew Peek under the production shingle Four Rent Films where he served as Vice President of Production. It was in this capacity that he produced and edited the short film "Leçon de la Langue" and the experimental feature film, "Late Night." Both films were co-produced and directed by Peek. Upon completion of the two films, Hoffman created Wonderkid Entertainment.
