Richard Everhart graduated from the University of Illinois after having served two years in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He studied theater in London before returning to the US and a successful career on Broadway in productions of Mr. Roberts, No Time for Sergeants, South Pacific, and Tall Story. He worked on stage with such stars as Mary Martin, Red Buttons, Joe Campanella, Andy Griffith, and Don Knotts. During his career he appeared on more than 175 television shows, including Ed Sullivan. In 1968 he turned to teaching drama, working at Bernards High School in Bernardsville, New Jersey.
