Gary Evans was born Joseph Michael Barnot, Jr. on June 18, 1964 in Warren, Ohio. He legally changed his first name to Gary to honor an old & future mentor, and his last name to Evans to honor his Grandmother. After one year at the City College of San Francisco, Gary relocated to New York, where he studied with Herbert Bergof at HB Studios from 1983-1986. He was a finalist at The Actors Studio from 1986-1988, before being selected as a lifetime member in 1988.
