Born Adam Star Farrar on October 4th, 1971 in Hollywood, California to father Michael Anthony Farrar and mother Peggy Anne Farrar. Adam was born in a house once owned by early Hollywood comedian 'Roscoe 'Fatty' Arbuckle' which had been converted into a yogi ashram. His parents at the time were members of the American Seikh temple under Yogi Bajhan and living a strict and simple spiritual lifestyle. Soon after his birth, his parents left the temple and moved to northern California where Adam's father Michael managed a dairy farm. At the age of four Adam's parents split up and eventually divorced. Adam was living in northern California with his mother where she began to perform with a live theater group, often traveling to San Francisco for performances. On one of these trips she met George DiCaprio who was there on business from Los Angeles. Soon, Adam and his mother would return to Los Angeles to live with George and his one year old son Leonardo DiCaprio. George had recently divorced Irmelin DiCaprio, Leonardo's mother who lived nearby and who, along with George, raised Leonardo. Adam had an artistic bohemian upbringing in the Los Feliz neighborhood of L.A. George DiCaprio was involved in the underground comic revolution of the late sixties and seventies and guests to the house included the likes of Robert Crumb, Robert Williams, Matt Groening, and Timothy Leary to name a few. On the recommendation of a second grade classmate's mother who worked in film, Adam attended an open call for agent Iris Burton and, after a quick name change to just Adam Starr, was signed immediately He soon began landing roles in national television commercials and spots on television shows and feature films. After several years of steady work, Adam's interest in acting gave way to other pursuits and he would not act again in front of the camera until in his mid twenties. Inspired by his stepbrother's success, Leonardo caught the acting bug and soon began an illustrious acting career of his own. Starting out as Adam did on television commercials and sitcoms, Leonard moved on to star in films like What's Eating Gilbert Grape (1993), Romeo + Juliet (1996), and Titanic (1997). Adam now works behind the scenes as an art director, writer, and a producer.
