Sandra's mother, Jeanne Evans is also an actress. Sandra likes to say she worked with Mike Nichols as her mother was pregnant with Sandra when she did radio plays with Mike Nichols in Philadelphia. Sandra is also a writer. Actor, William Hurt, hired Sandra to write a screenplay, 'Breath'- not produced but holds a stronghold in her heart. Sandra was published in NY Times Sunday Magazine in a story about selling letters Grace Kelly wrote to her father through out their lives. Sandra has been acting for 40 years - aside from film, tv, theatre, she wrote a 90 minute piece, "Listening to Lizabeth' about holding the hand of her best friend when she took her last breaths. Elizabeth McBride, her friend, was also an academy award nominee for costuming. Sandra was the first mzungo, (white person) on a Swahili soap opera filmed in Kenya which aired all over East Africa. Most proud production - giving birth to Alice Clendenen - Alice, also in 'the business' but on the producer end...Alice's recent role was as production manager for Pixar's marvelously moving, Onward. The work that tugs most tenaciously is as advocate for end of life care in prisons. Sandra co-founded, Humane Prison Hospice Project and has been going into San Quentin to help facilitate this work for years....it's a long tale. The prison work passion was born from a theater role over 30 years ago as "Arlie" in "Getting Out" by Marsha Norman. Please see: humaneprisonhospiceproject.org
