Gaffney, SC native Julia Fowler is an actor, author and screenwriter currently writing on the new Netflix comedy, "Country Comfort." Julia is the creator of the Southern Women Channel, a YouTube channel with over 25 million views. Julia writes, directs and acts in all of the videos which have gone viral, been written about in newspapers throughout the South, and were featured on "The Today Show." Her book, "Talk Southern To Me," released by Gibbs-Smith Publishing, is a collection of comedic essays and southernisms that has been endorsed by Dolly Parton as "fun, informative and oh so Southern." Julia's second book, "Embrace Your Southern Sugar," will be released by Gibbs-Smith Publishing in September 2020. Most recently, Julia adapted the acclaimed best seller, "Whistling Past the Graveyard," into a feature screenplay. Julia also created and executive produced "Growing Up Broadway", an unscripted pilot for E! which followed the lives of of kids who perform in Broadway shows. She executive produced and acted in the indie TV pilot, "Shalom Y'all," written by Caryn Lucas, which was later developed by Warner Brothers under Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed's production shingle, Rare Bird Productions. Julia has also written and developed TV & Film projects with New Line Cinema, Will Packer Productions, and Reese Witherspoon. Julia graduated magna cum laude from the University of South Carolina with a BA in theater and dance. Her first love was musical theater. She was in the original cast of Broadway's Tony Award winning revival of "Annie Get Your Gun", appearing opposite Bernadette Peters and Tom Wopat. In the National Tour of "Annie Get Your Gun," Julia played the conniving "Dolly Tate" and understudied the role of "Annie Oakley. " She played "Mrs. Potiphar" in the National Tour of "Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," opposite Donny Osmond. She was also cast in the national tour of "Victor/Victoria", in the Broadway workshop of Tommy Tune's, "Easter Parade," and was in the Hollywood Bowl's 2012 production of "The Producers" directed by Tony award winning, director/choreographer, Susan Stroman. Her favorite regional theater credits include playing "Panacea" in "Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum" at both the Pittsburgh Public Theater and the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center and "Whoopee" at Theater Under The Stars in Texas.
