William "Bill" Gamble grew up in Merced and Salinas, CA. He was a stage and screen actor appearing in over 100 theatrical productions. Among his various theater roles, he played Boris Karloff's grandson in the production of On Borrowed Time (1946); several character roles in Cyrano de Bergerac with Richard Chamberlain (1973); Malcolm in Macbeth with Charlton Heston and Vanessa Redgrave (1975). He co-founded, directed, and designed for the Festival Theater in El Paso. He played principal roles in the Ashland Shakespeare Festival and the San Diego National Shakespeare Festival. His film credits include Foul Play; Starman; R.P.M.; Night of the Living Date, as well as television shows Murder She Wrote; T.J. Hooker; General Hospital; Days of Our Lives; and Santa Barbara. He semi-retired to central California where he enjoyed roles in productions at Merced Playhouse and other theater venues in Stanislaus County. He and his spouse were very involved in animal rescue and adoption.
