Kirk Gillon has over 28 years of experience as a cinematographer, producer, director, editor and writer. Kirk's passion for film was born while watching 8mm home movies at his great grandfather's home in North Carolina. At 14 years old, he began filming high school football games in b&w reversal 16mm film. The excitement he was able to elicit from players watching themselves excel on the field was his first experience reaching an audience. It was then he knew he wanted to become a filmmaker. Right out of high school, Kirk got his first "official" job as a cameraman at a local television station and worked there through college. Kirk moved to Lisbon, Portugal and for 15 years filmed on locations in over two dozen countries as a cinematographer, director, and producer. In the early 2000's Kirk returned to the United States and resided in the southeast where he wrote and developed screenplays and worked as a freelance DOP for national television networks, ABC, CBS, NBC, TLC, Bravo, Discovery, CNN, ESPN and PBS. In 2004, Kirk won an EMMY for his marketing efforts with NBC. In addition, many of the projects Kirk has participated on have been broadcast nationally and internationally. Kirk makes his home Los Angles, California and Denver, Colorado and concentrates on long form projects from documentaries to narratives as a director or producer.
