Sergey Koshonin is a Soviet and Russian theater and film actor, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation. During his school years Koshonin went in for sports. He was not going to become an actor - he was preparing for a military career. After graduating from school, he entered the Gorelovo Higher Military-Political Air Defense School, but did not pass the competition. Then he submitted documents to LGITMIK, where he became a student in 1975, the course of Arkadiy Katzman and Lev Dodin. After graduating from college, he served for 20 years at the Youth Theater on the Fontanka. At the Youth Theater on the Fontanka, under the direction of Semyon Spivak, he played more than a hundred roles, worked with director Vladimir Malyshchitskiy. He played the most significant roles in performances based on the works of Aleksandr Volodin. Since 1995, he has been producing on television: the first project was the gypsy group "Cabriolet", then the enterprise in the creative association "Art-Piter". He made his film debut back in his school years - he skipped classes and accidentally caught the eye of the director's assistant, who invited him to play the role of Igor Koltsov in Dnevnik direktora shkoly (1975). At that time, Koshonin was still an eighth grader. He was lucky to work with Lyudmila Gurchenko, Oleg Borisov and Iya Savvina. He played his first major role in 1984 in the film Zhil-byl doktor (1985). His hero is a young doctor Sergey Shumilin. He became popular after playing the role of Major Maksim Virigin in the television series Uboynaya sila (2000). Successful was the work of the actor in the detective series Nevsky (2016), in which he played police colonel Gennadiy Lyubimov.
