James Leahy is a screenwriter and film historian who has lectured on the cinema in Europe, Asia, Africa and North America. He currently posts on Leahy Looks at Films, Leahy Looks at More Films, Leahy Listens to Films and Senses of Cinema. His articles have appeared in publications as diverse as "The Chicago Daily News", "Sight & Sound", "South", "The Monthly Film Bulletin" and "The Guardian". He was a founding co-Editor of the media periodical "Vertigo". He is an authority on African cinema, and on the films of Jean Renoir and Nicholas Ray, having worked with the latter in Chicago and New York.
