Mesmerized by the magical possibilities of combining music and the moving image, Paul Lewis composed his first score for a major British TV drama at the age of twenty, shortly after his appointment as Assistant Musical Adviser to ABC Television. Three years later he happily resigned his administrative post to become a full-time composer and has for three decades produced an unending stream of orchestral and instrumental TV scores, production library music and concert and chamber works, as well as restoring three mediæval houses in his spare time. He now lives in a Victorian town house by the sea in Hove with a beach hut on the prom, and is still mesmerized by the possibilities of combining music and the moving image. Paul's TV work encompasses drama of all types: romantic, horror, costume and comedy, as well as children's series, wildlife, features, animation and commercials. Overseas sales of many of these programmes have made Paul's music familiar to millions of viewers around the world. Paul is an enthusiastic conductor of his work, both in the recording studio and in the concert hall. Concert works and chamber music, always ebulliently optimistic and unashamedly romantic, are a vital part of his output. His orchestral works appear on CD alongside the music of other English composers such as Sir Malcolm Arnold, Sir Richard Rodney Bennett, Holst and Delius.
