Robert Jay Litz is currently producing the indie film, Ten Tricks (dir. Rick Pagano; John Bailey, dp), now in post-production. He is head-writer of Alta California, a new series for Spanish TV. Executive Producer (with "story by" credit) on "For The Price Of A Mule", a TV movie for CBS (Warner/Wolper/ Nexus). The two hour bio of John Travolta (co-writer) aired on A&E January 2003 and was nominated for an Emmy. With Michael Kruzan he is developing "Sunset", an animated series for Alyssa Milano. His newest stage play, "One World", opens at the Elephant Theatre in May. For A&M Films, he wrote the original screenplay for Twister (Warner); Fighting City Hall, an original romantic comedy (Paramount, in turnaround). Produced films include House of Cards (1993) (Miramax), starring Kathleen Turner and Tommy Lee Jones; Medium Straight (1988) (co-producer, Overseas Film Group), starring Richard Schiff; Rappin' (1985) (Cannon) with Mario Van Peebles and Eriq LaSalle. He wrote scenes for Katharine Hepburn and Nick Nolte for the American release of "Grace Quigley" (Cannon). Recent film work includes "West" (A. Kitman Ho & R. Pagano), adapted from his own stage play, "Mobile Hymn"; "Big Man", adapted from the teen novel "Safe at Second" (Traveling Light Media). Guilt (Del Mar) begins production this summer. Four spec scripts ranging from romantic comedies to bio-pics and political dramas are under option. He co-wrote Maxine's Christmas Carol (Hallmark) and six episodes of the animated series Stevie Stardust (Hallmark). He's also written 17 shows for A&E, Discovery, and the History Channel on subjects ranging from Benjamin Franklin to Clipper Ships, from the Vietnam War to the Chinese in America, which are consistently among the top-selling docs at Amazon.com. He and Michael Kruzan developed and wrote the pilot for the one hour episodic We've Come To Help. They are also developing a new one hour "serious comedy" series, All Mixed Up. Other specs for one hour include Big Sky, Coop, Boz, and (TV film) As You Love Me. He has written 20 produced plays for Off, Off-Off Broadway and the regional theatres. Mobile Hymn (Santa Monica Playhouse); 1997 Drama-Logue Awards for Best Play and Best Ensemble. "Douglas", a one-man play about Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas, was named Best New Play of 1991 by the Portland Critics; "Great Divide" moved to Off-Broadway after being presented at the Eugene O'Neill National Playwrights Conference; "Domino", New York Theater Workshop.
