David Lomas

David Lomas was born in London. World War 2 saw him evacuated to East Anglia but he returned to London to attend school. After thirteen years of labour, faced with a choice of career as an actor (following mother's example) or the military (the male tradition), he chose the latter. He served 16 years as an RAF pilot. In a somewhat doomed attempt to marry both interests, he appeared, often uncredited, on screen and stage during his time in uniform. The occasional happy accident allowed both roles to be combined. After his military service, he founded a successful commercial business but continued to act as well as write professionally. Stage, radio and TV appearances were sandwiched between an increasingly successful business life whose demands saw residence in various parts of the world. He also dabbled in journalism as well as writing articles on aviation history with forays into commercial fiction and radio scripts. He now concentrates on writing. So far, he has kept up an average of one new book a year. After returning to England he settled consecutively in Northumberland and the Isle of Man. In 2006, wearied by the rain that permanently lived over the Irish Sea, he moved once again, this time to the border region of France and Spain. He now lives in a farmhouse, complete with olive trees.
