“I've always been very competitive, and part of that is pushing your limits, taking risks and being able to live with the loss that comes with that risk.” Scarlett Johansson is an American actress and producer who showed an interest in acting from an early age: at age 9 she made her film debut in North (1994). Johansson enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and later attended the Professional Children's School in Manhattan to perfect her craft. She attracted attention for her performance in The Horse Whisperer (1998) and the black comedy Ghost World (2001) and then transitioned to more adult roles. In 2003 she made Lost in Translation (2003), alongside Bill Murray and Girl with a Pearl Earring, films that established her as one of the most versatile of her generation. She has collaborated with director Woody Allen in Match Point (2005), Scoop (2006) and Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008). She lent her voice to Samantha in the film Her (2013), and while she does not appear physically, her emotional performance was crucial to the success of the character, receiving praise for her ability to convey depth and emotional connection. Her performance earned her a Golden Globe nomination. She played Natasha Romanoff, also known as Black Widow, in the Marvel Universe, since Iron Man 2 (2010). Her role was highlighted in The Avengers films (2012 and 2019) and led to her having her own film, Black Widow (2021). In 2019, she received two Oscar nominations for her work in A Marriage Story and Jojo Rabbit. Her ability to reinvent herself ensured that, despite her extensive career, she remains a relevant and current figure in the industry.
