Founder and managing director of action concept Film- & Stuntproduktion GmbH and hands-on producers GmbH & Co. KG. Born in 1960 in Lohr am Main, the trained helicopter pilot Joha started his career as a professional stunt man at the age of seventeen when he joined the "Hell Drivers", a British troupe of daredevil stunt drivers. In 1982 he founded a stunt company called "Driving Unit" in Düsseldorf. This company worked on such noted German television productions as "Tatort" (Crime Scene), "Die Wache" (The Bill), "Großstadtrevier" (Big City Beat) and "Eurocops" as the second unit stunt team. Joha's production company is best known for the cops-and-Autobahn action series Alarm for Cobra 11, which has been a ratings hit for commercial network RTL for more than 17 years. With the Taurus World Stunt Award, action concept has won the prestigious "stunt Oscar" for best action in a foreign film a record nine times. When "action concept Film- und Stuntproduktion GmbH" was founded in 1992, Hermann Joha then took over the 2nd Unit of the hit series "Alarm für Cobra 11" as well as numerous TV action movies and feature films. He later created his own successful formats such as the DSF magazine "Stuntteam". In 1996, quickly after being honored with the prestigious German TV prize the "Golden Lion Award" for his work on "Alarm für Cobra 11", Joha took over the entire production of the series from development to post production. After the premiere of the TV movie "Der Clown", which he created himself in 1997, Joha produced a spin-off series of the same name but even more action-packed. Several other shows quickly followed including "Die Motorrad-Cops" (The Motorcycle Cops), "Wilde Engel" (Wild Angel), "Alarm für Cobra 11 - Einsatz für Team 2" as well as various TV movies such as "Lasko - Im Auftrag des Vatikan" ("Death Train"), "Abgrund - Eine Stadt stürzt ein" ("Gaping Abyss"), "Dekker der Trucker" ("Dekker"). In addition, Action concept created the first daily action series "112 - Sie retten Dein Leben" ("112 - Lifesavers"). For the "German Writers' Room" Joha has collaborated with some of the top American show runners. Working under the direction of acclaimed producers like Lee Goldberg ("Monk", "Diagnosis Murder", "Baywatch"), William Finkelstein ("Law & Order", "L.A. Law", "NYPD Blue") and Bryce Zabel ("Pandemic", "Blackbeard", Chairman of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences 2001-2003) selected authors spent an intense week with developing new series for German and international TV markets. In 2012, Hermann Joha was honored in the extraordinary contribution to fiction category at the German Television Awards. Joha received the German equivalent of the Emmy for his life's work. Joha's mainly prime-time shows are being sold in more than 140 countries. In addition to its bread-and-butter television work, action concept has done second unit and stunt service work on several feature films, including Bollywood feature Don 2 - The King is Back starring Shah Rukh Khan. His company hands-on producers co-produced Ron Howard's racing film Rush as well as Collide (WT: Autobahn) and Boy7.
