Margarita Jimeno is a Colombian/American Emmy-nominated director. Her Award winning films have played widely in festivals such as Göteborg, AFI Fest, Münich Film Fest, CPH:DOX, and have been distributed internationally by distributors such as Kino Lorber International and MUB, in theaters, online, and on television. She has won several awards at film festivals including Sound and Vision at CPH:DOX, and the US Work in Progress Grand Jury Award at the Champs-Élysées Film Festival to name a few. In 2008, Jimeno made her directorial debut with the feature music documentary, GogolL Bordello Non-Stop, which premiered at the Göteborg Film Festival and won several awards during its festival run, including Special Mention for the Sound and Vision Award at CPH:DOX . The film went on to be picked up by Kino-Lorber International for North American distribution, UK Mubi, and Netflix. The film is available to watch in Amazon, and Vimeo on demand. Jimeno's debut narrative feature film, Grind Reset Shine, about an artist's journey from the affluent art world to an austere religious community, was awarded the US Work in Progress Award at the Champs-Élysées Film Festival in Paris 2016. Is distributed by Kino-Lorber International streaming in Kino Now. From 2014-19 she directed, produced, and shot the documentary series Working In The Theatre. Nominated for a daytime Emmy award in 2017 and in 2019 for directing and documentary series, several Webby Awards nominations, and has won a couple of silver and bronze Telly Awards in the documentary category. Margarita is an alumna of The School of Visual Arts, the Berlinale Talent Campus, and Werner Herzog's first Rogue film school.
