Born 1910 in Oslo, Norway, Leif Juster first made a name for himself as a stage actor in the 1930s. Following his starring role in a film comedy about a disappeared sausage-maker, The Lost Sausage Maker (1941), released in 1941, he became a household name. He was not to appear in films again for several years, however, as he instead focused on stage appearances throughout the 1940s, being highly influential in launching the Norwegian revue theater "Edderkoppen." He made a triumphant return to the silver screen in 1957, starring in another wildly successful Norwegian comedy by the name of Fools in the Mountains (1957), which was followed up by several more film appearances during the next two decades. Though Juster did appear in some rather dramatic roles, Bussen (1961) being one example, he is by far best remembered for his comedic skills, as he ranks among the most beloved of Norwegian comedians. Juster died in 1995, aged 85.
