Born and raised in Buffalo, New York, Ed's passion for film comes as a by product of a childhood filled with art, music, and story telling. As a young boy, Ed's older brothers snuck him into an old movie house to see Fellini's, LA DOLCE VITA. Art, music, story telling, dysfunctional and functional life, all in one shot. When he walked into Columbia University Graduate Film School ten years later, he had the opportunity to tell Fellini to his face about the impact this cinematic giant had on his decision to pursue a career in the world of film and creativity. In the course of his life, Ed has written and directed numerous long form movies for TV, as well as a piles of scripts for the studios as a ghost writer. He watched the late Garry Marshall direct one of his projects and was most fortunate to direct many fine actors like Ellen Burstyn, Meg Tilly, Lynn Redgrave, Robert Loggia... In addition to his film career, he is a Professor of Film in Santa Barbara. He sits on the Jury of the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, Milan, and in the recent past has given a writer's panel two years in a row at the Cannes International Film Festival. Most recently Ed had a thriller produced in France and Belgium, TRUNK, directed by the young talented French Director, Benjamin Goalabré and is working with Malcolm McDowell on a personal project, SUMMER HOUSE. He is also gearing up for his family drama, featuring two estranged brothers, called TAXMAN.
