Ekta Kapoor is an Indian content (TV, web-shows and Films) producer, creative head and joint managing director of a prestigious television production house, Balaji Telefilms ltd. She produces and distributes her film projects under her banner Balaji Motion Pictures ltd. Her OTT venture, ALT Balaji, delivers diverse content for the viewers. Her latest venture, Indian Woman Rising, is a cinema collective of - by - for women of India, in partnership with film producer Guneet Monga and writer Tahira Kashyap. Ekta Kapoor is the daughter of Indian actor Jeetendra and Shobha Kapoor, a television and film producer and the managing director of Balaji Telefilms ltd. She has a younger brother, Tusshar Kapoor, who is an actor now turned producer. Ekta has a son named Ravie Kapoor, who was born via surrogacy on 27th January 2019. Ekta's content driven projects have led her to winning multiple awards and accolades. She is titled as the 'Queen of Indian Television' and 'Content Czarina'. She has also been awarded the 4th highest civilian award in the Republic of India, Padma Shri in 2020 for her contribution towards Indian Television and Cinema. Ekta started her career at the age of 15. She has created more than 130 shows under her banner Balaji Telefilms ltd. The most popular ones are Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi (2000), Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii (2000), Hum Paanch, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Bade Achhe Lagte Hain (2011), Kumkum Bhagya (2014), Naagin (2015) and many more. She has also produced movies like The Dirty Picture (2011), Dream Girl (2019), Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007), Once Upon a Time in Mumbai (2010) etc.
