Karl Kimbrough (producer/director/editor) Karl's interest in film began as a result of his obsession with music. He began his entertainment career in the music department of the University of North Texas as a singer on a full scholarship. It didn't take long for him to realize that his "voice" sounded better as a producer - not a singer. He went on to produce an album for 53 Large Men and worked as the college rep for Sony Music before diving into film production. Always one to learn through experience, Karl banded together with several film students and founded a group that went on to produce two feature films and seven shorts. Upon graduation, he helped form the Deep Ellum Film Festival - now known as the AFI Film Festival Dallas - which has grown into one of the largest independent film festivals in the Midwest. Working for various production companies throughout the years, Karl honed his storytelling skills as an editor, cutting hundreds of commercial, film and television projects. When the director of a Dallas Stars commercial dropped out at the last minute, Karl got his directorial big break and hasn't looked back - eventually winning several regional Emmys for his various work. At the turn of the century (the 21st century), Karl moved to Los Angeles and founded Alter Ego Films where he has produced and directed commercial campaigns for Wal-Mart, Home Depot, McDonalds, Blockbuster and Comedy Central. In addition to his commercial work, Karl has extensive experience in the corporate world - heading up projects for Cessna Aircraft, Texas Instruments, Mary-Kay, Nokia, and The United Way among many others. Karl continues to cut feature films in between days and at other times, he hops on as editor for commercials and with various network television series for NBC, FX, FOX, G4 TECH, and more. After completing the CGI film, Vermilion (2007) with Aaron Sims and John Norris, Karl and Ash Christian (Fat Girls) have rejoined forces on Ash's latest film, Mangus (2008). Karl has written several feature film scripts including the animated film Laika: First In Space, co-written with Robert C. Handy. Karl has also co-created and co-executive produced the television adventure show, "The World Less Traveled."
