In 1965 Kenneth King changed his name to Jonathan and wrote and recorded the song Everyone's Gone To The Moon which became a hit around the world selling 4.9 million copies of the vinyl single. He then wrote and produced another hit - It's Good News Week, which he recorded with the band Hedgehoppers Anonymous, which also became a hit. Since then he has written, recorded, sang or produced many other hits ranging from his own recordings (of which the most successful were Una Paloma Blanca and Hooked On A Feeling) under a variety of names and pseudonyms, as well as discovering, naming and producing such acts as Genesis, 10cc and The Bay City Rollers. He went on to become a stage and screen producer, backing and producing the original Rocky Horror Show, making films such as Vile Pervert: The Musical and Me Me Me, and writing books including his own autobiographies 65 My Life So Far and 70 FFFY.
