Born in Los Angeles, CA to a former professional baseball player and a retired administrator at EMI Records, Alex is an American Millennial filmmaker of Mesoamerican, European, African, and Sephardic descent. Alex began his career as a child actor studying method-acting under Kevin McDermott at Center Stage LA. Alex first made appearances in theater and commercials before making his film debut in Clubhouse Detectives (1996) which earned him a nomination for a Young Artist Award. Soon after, Alex made appearances in The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), Walker, Texas Ranger (1993), The Ellen Show (2001), and is a recipient of the ALMA Award for his performance in the PBS TV Mini-Series, Foto Novelas: In the Mirror (1997). Alex's directorial career began in 2013 after assuming the role of Creative Director at an advertising agency. There he began developing a style of filmmaking focused on depicting dignity. Alex has received critical acclaim for his video work in advertising producing several viral Ads and receiving prestigious accolades from the Telly's, the American Advertising Awards, and the international Creativepool Awards. In 2018, Alex became a full-time filmmaker with his wife through their fledgling production company, Bravebird, LLC. Alex's first competitive short film, Fantasy in D Minor (2018) premiered at the 24th Annual San Luis Obispo International Film Festival, won Best International Short Film at Oxford, and was selected in the Short Film Corner at the 71st Annual Cannes Film Festival. With Bravebird, Alex is refining his style and approach to filmmaking with a methodology he is pioneering called, Cinema Dignité(TM) which builds upon the work of the French New Wave Movement. Cinema Dignité(TM) is focused on developing productions with a diverse team from the top-bottom and bottom-up to evolve the messaging framework of story, inspire new heights of creativity, and fundamentally transform the way the human narrative is depicted on screen.
