Boyan Milushev was born in Bulgaria. In 2003, becomes naturalized citizen of the United States. Resides alternately between the U.S. and Bulgaria. In his late teens, Boyan enters a competition organized by the Entertainment Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Bulgaria and wins the highest award. Shortly thereafter, he produces, directs and performs in his own Variety show, which becomes the most sought after ticket. 1983 Milushev writes his first screenplay "Rejected" which is picked up and green-lighted by the National Film Studios in Bulgaria. 1984 Boyan makes his screen-acting debut as the lead in the Bulgarian- Czechoslovakian co-production "Na druhom brehu sloboda" directed by Joseph Medved. 1986 Milushev creates a one-man show for himself and takes the live show to Europe where he performs continuously for the next six years. 1992 He forms his company "BM5 Film Production." Writes a screenplay titled "Bird of Prey." BM5 Film applies for production subsidy by entering the script in the National Film Center of Bulgaria's (NFC) annual contest; the jury unanimously selects Boyan's project as the best out of 20 entries and BM5 is slated to receive 8.5 million leva (BGN). However, when discovered that the script will be Boyan's producing debut, the Center reneges and sets aside less than 12% of the original sum. Boyan refuses the machinations of the Center along with its handout and sets out to find alternative financing for his "Bird..." The media picks up on the controversy and it blows up into a heated public scandal. The script is commercially viable and should have no trouble finding outside investors... thus the NFC defends in the public forum its misstep. Boyan's plight receives national attention. 1994 Through intense dedication to filmmaking coupled with his belief in reaping the rewards of one's own efforts, Boyan Milushev garners the interest of privately owned financial institutions in Bulgaria. With their support he produces and stars in the lead role in the first high-profiled US-Bulgarian feature film, " Bird of prey" also starring Academy Award nominee Jennifer Tilly, Academy Award nominee Lesley Ann Warren and Golden Globe winner Richard Chamberlain. 1996 "Bird of prey" receives distribution and substantial critical and popular acclaim at a number of prestigious festivals. Presently: Boyan wrote his next screenplay - The Crescent Blade (Janissaries) - his new feature project, which is in development.
