Born in the Suburbs in Connecticut, but raised on a farm, Michael received his first makeup kit at the age of 7 for Christmas. He took a detour from makeup to become a magician, which has helped him greatly when designing FX for film, and is a nice way to pass time on set. He became a full time makeup artist once again in the early 1990s when he moved to Southern California after getting a degree in Directing, Theatrical Design and Puppetry.
