Jelle Nesna is a creative producer and director. Since 2010 he has created and realized feature films with the production company Rinkel Film. His first movie Lucia de B. (2014) was short-listed for the Oscars. The script was written by Moniek Kramer & Tijs van Marle and the movie was directed by Paula van der Oest. The movie Rafaël (2019), directed by Ben Sombogaart, was well received in the Netherlands as well as abroad. Actress Melody Klaver received a Golden Calf for Best Actress at the Nederlands Film Festival in 2019 for her role in the movie. The movie Buiten is het feest, which premieres this autumn, is the first collaboration between Rinkel Film and Jelle Nesna with Jelle Nesna as the director. The movie is based on the book by Arthur Japin and the script is written by Karen van Holst Pellekaan. In 1985, Jelle Nesna graduated from the Netherlands Film Academy (NFTA) as director and cinematographer. For his graduation movie Dichter bij Macht he received the prize for Best Graduation Film. Besides many drama television series, he also made the TV movie Arends, about the life of the famous Dutch poet Jan Arends, starring Jeroen Willems. For this movie he was nominated for a Golden Calf for Best Television Drama. In 2009, he directed his first feature film, Carmen van het Noorden. It received a Golden Calf for Best Score by Perquisite. The script was written by Maarten van Hinte, Karin van der Meer, and Jelle Nesna.
