Sam Nickens grew up on his uncle's farm in Miller's Ferry Alabama. In 1936, he moved to Selma Alabama whereas graduated as the valedictorian at his local high school. While he was in college he was drafted into the navy and while he was in the navy he received 11 promotions to Lt. Commander. He then became an aide to Admiral G.P. Steele. Like a Hollywood story, Nickens ended up back in California and dreamed of writing and directing films but he also had to find a steady job so he started appearing as an extra in films and movies in the 1970s and 1980s while still chasing and living his dream. As of 2019, Nickens is still writing and always looking for a project to keep his mind busy.
