Ho Nguyen is a Vietnamese-born DNA researcher turned actor who broke to fame in the role of Dinh in Louis Malle's film Alamo Bay (1985). When casting the difficult role of the Vietnamese fisherman who fights discrimination against the local Texan fisherman, the director had a tremendous problem in finding the right actor even experienced ones, so he advertised casting calls on many newspapers and on radio stations in several American cities. Despite not having any acting experience, Nguyen tested for the role and managed to impress the casting directors and Malle himself. Despite the noticeable role, Nguyen didn't pursue an acting career, and appearing once more in front of the screen in the TV movie Final Verdict (1991).
